Hi Chris

Yes there is up until the 18 December the lift pass is at a reduced price. So a 6 day pass starting on the 12th Decemebr will all be at the reduced price. For an Adult a 6 day Espace Killy pass the price up to the 18 December is 196.5 Euros in place of the standard 218 Euros. Not a huge saving, but every bit helps !!!

Please not that if you were to start the pass on say the 14 Dec and run it through to the 29 Dec (still 6 days) the first 5 days would be at the reduced rate and 1 day at the standard rate.

Hi.

Not sure what this is but as far as we are aware this is not something that STVI are offering. It may be something along the lines of the family pass where the fourth pass is offered at a 50% reduction, which is, of course, available through us and you can book it directly on our web site.

thanks craig, have a look at Ski Val or YSE or similar who mention it in their offers page -
"Val d'Isere lift pass offers -
In conjunction with the STVI (Val d'Isere lift pass office) we've got some special lift pass offers:
12th Dec - buy one ski pass and get the second half price so two adult passes work out at €147.50 each (saving €49 each)."

I will most certainly ask STVI about this as if they are offering a discount, they are under a legal obligation to offer the same discount to all suppliers, this is written in the contract that we have with them.

http://www.markwarner.co.uk/pages/ski-holiday-lift-pass-offer
as are the crystal/thomson/first choice conglomerate i think.

Hi I have followed the link and have also e-mailed STVI requesting them to confirm the position on this. I suspect that many of these so called "STVI offers" of free lift passes etc are simply a way that the other companies discount their holidays. We allways like to stay on the legal side of our contracts and therefore do not offer discounts on lift passes (that are not publicly available) as we are contractually bound not to do so. As a result we apply any discounts to your holiday price rather than a lift pass.

What some other companies are doing is effectively tying you to buying the lift pass through them and offering what is often a lower discount than we offer on the total holiday price. As a result I do feel that if you compare the total package price of any of the companies you have mentioned including lift passes, you will find that the cost of your holiday is cheaper with us and I can also assure you, sitting here training the team for Val D'Isere at this very moment, that the quality and service we provide will to the highest possible level.

I have had a response back from Veronique at STVI, as follows

"Il n’y a aucune remise particulière sur le début de saison"

Translated this means, There is no discount for individuals for the start of the season.

So to sum up, these discounts must be company related discounts as indicated in my previous post

thanks for the responses - sorry to bang on about this but it just doesn't quite sound right .... YSE specifically say "Pre 19 December 2009: The STVI are reducing their normal price by 10% prior to 19 December and offering a second six-day pass half price." If you know John (Yates Smith) then you will know a straighter talking man does not exist in val d'isere and he wouldn't say it was an STVI offer if it wasn't. We would love to book with you but it's c£50 saving each person we are looking at which hopefully wouldn't come from your pocket so we would all be winners ;-)

Please believe me that we would like nothing better than to accept your booking and to offer you a cheaper lift pass if we were able to. The 10% discount referred to is the Premier Neige discount, which we can offer and do to all of our clients. I am still bemused by the concept that a tour operator is offering this and stating that it comes from the lift company, however when I have personally written to the director of the lift company about it she says that there is no discount on offer.

I will ask for clarity on this once again from the lift company. I would also be delighted to talk with you directly should you wish to and reiterate that we want to provide the best value holidays but are obliged by our contract to offer the prices we are provided with by the lift company.

Hi we have ski swatch watches and know that these can be loaded in resort with the pass data to prevent the need to buy a card. Does this cause you any issues to get these for us or do we simply pop along to the SVTI after arrival. We are arriving Sat 9th Jan and normally leave teh watches with teh reps. Thanks and hope the snow is falling?

Hello Rohana,

Having read through the lift pass pricing structure today, it was unclear how much the lift company would charge in your case.

In search of an answer, I went to see them in the lift pass office today and they quoted me 829 euros which is 3 adult full price passes and 2 half price passes. Apparently this is the cheapest family pass they can do in your circumstances.

Our system is not set up to take the payment online for this sort of family pass so I suggest that we organise the passes for you when you get to resort. You will have them delivered to you at breakfast before your first days skiing so you'll still beat the lift pass queues with no extra fee's or hassle.

You can pay there and then by card or cash or put it on your room account and pay at the end of the week.

HI,

I get the impression we can arrive on Saturday 30th January and pay up for three Trois Vallee lift passes by credit card and have the passes ready for the following morning.
Am I right in my thinking?

Cheers
