Hello,

Does the ski carriage supplement allow for 2 bags, a ski and boot bag?

Ski Carriage is per set of skis or snowboard. Boots etc are not charged for but are included in your normal luggage allowance so if they send you overweight (20kgs) then they will be charged for in this respect. We do not make a per bag charge.

Hi Craig - thanks for the info. Do you happen to know what the max weight per item of luggage is?

The max weight is 32Kg per peice of luggage. This is the health and safetly guidelines for the safety of baggage handlers.

Hi
Does this mean for 2 people, 40Kgs can be combined in any way, providing any 1 bag is not more than 32 kgs ? Could you have 3 bags?
Also when you pay ski carriage, is this in excess of the 20kg per person as you are paying extra?

Yes. We have no limits on the number of bags that you can carry. The carriage charge for a pair of skis or board is for the actual skis or board themselves, not the total weight of the bag. As a result the total weight allowance is increased by 6Kgs if you pay for a Ski carriage charge.

465254Can 2 pairs of skis go in a double bag if they weigh no more than 6kg?

What happens with the all in one bags specifically designed to carry your clothes, boots & skis or board in 1 case to keep them all together & avoid lots of bags to tag, find & carry?

The charge is per pair of skis, so 2 pairs of skis in one bg would incur a charge of 2 sets of skis and the weight allowance would only increase by 6Kg. If you have a bag that is designed for clothes et as well then this makes no difference. The total weight allowance is still 20Kgs and this is increased by 6Kgs per set of skis/board booked.

Hi Craig

We're thinking of making a booking for the 12th December week but understand that you have no flights or coach transfers on that date, even though the season starts in Val d'Isere the week before. If you find people are making their own flight arrangements for this date, will you consider organising a bulk transfer from Geneva? As there are only two of us we don't qualify for the minibus option, car hire for two is expensive, and there is no shuttle to Val! Alternatively can your office co-ordinate the sharing of a minibus?

Hi Marcus

Regrettably our flight programme only starts on the 19 December 2010 and so we will not be able to provide flights for the 12th December. We are, however operating flights on the return part of your journey and so therefore can offer flights and coach transfers on the 19 December for your return from resort. We have priced these very competitively and they are currently (on the 14 August 2010) priced at £55 per person from Val D'Isere or £45 pp from Courchevel. This is flights and transfers and includes airport taxes etc.

For the 12th December, we are very happy to try and organise transfers for guests at the most competitive price we can. Obviously we have season long contracts in place with our coach company and we can therefore organise competitive coach transfers if the demand is there, however, coaches are only really cost effective for 40 plus guests and therefore there would need to be quite a few clients travelling at similar times to make a coach an effective and affordable solution.

This season, we have tried to offer some different solutions to clients for transfers, attempting to keep the costs for everybody as low as possible. the shuttle service is a new concept and we are effectively testing this on courchevel for popularity, again, we are trying to keep the costs down as clients (with groups of 1/2 guests) who have travelled with us before have asked for a cheaper transfer option than the minibus service that has a minimum of 4 guests and therefore becomes very expensive. We are hoping that it proves popular and we can therefore introduce an equivalent service to Val D'Isere in 2011/12.

Thanks, Craig, I understand your position re the start of the flight programme. Your price of £55 for flight and transfer on the 19th seems very reasonable. If we opted for a minibus transfer on the 12th, and therefore only needed this on the outward journey, can I take it that this would be half the cost of the £99 or £109 you quote for a return minibus transfer?

Hi Marcus.

Yes, the price for a one way minibus transfer would be half the return cost for transfers on the 12 December. Obviously the usual conditions of a minimum of 4 guests applies on the minibus transfers.

Best Regards

Thanks, Craig, that's good. Now we'll see if we can find two others who would like to take that transfer (12th December, Geneva to Val d'Isere). Anybody out there interested?
