Dear Guests

I would like to extend the warmest of welcomes from myself and my team in Courchevel 1550 and Le Praz. I am Jon and am Ski Power’s resort manager for these two villages this season. Having lived and worked in Courchevel for several years I am able to personally confirm Ski Power’s reputation for providing guests with an exceptionally high quality holiday experience and I am completely confident in saying you will want to return time and time again.

Each member of my team has been individually hand picked to ensure that every element of your stay with us will be a completely memorable experience from the moment you arrive to the second you leave. You will find that nothing is too much trouble, so if there is anything that we can do to make your stay with us more pleasurable and comfortable please do not hesitate to ask.
On your arrival you will be met by one of the friendliest greetings in the Alps and shown to your cosy, beautifully appointed room for the week. If you have pre-ordered ski passes these, together with piste maps, will be waiting for you on arrival so that you are able to hit the slopes as soon as you have settled in. My team will be on hand to give you tips on where they like to ski and of course our Ski Hosts will be available to take you out skiing, tailored to your requirements, should that be easy blue runs or more challenging black runs.

The mouth-watering food is lovingly prepared by our incredibly talented chefs, who take pride in every dish that comes out of their kitchen. You will be able enjoy a superb breakfast to set you up for a days skiing and on your return a slice of homemade cake will be waiting for you to keep you going until dinner. When dinner is served you experience a sumptuous five course meal, prepared from top quality ingredients, which is sure to satisfy the hungriest skier. If you are staying in any of our chalets you will also benefit from unlimited hand selected wine, which in my opinion, is far superior to anything offered by our rivals.

Courchevel is part of the Three Valleys, which has some of the most wide ranging and remarkable skiing in the world, coupled with breath taking scenery. Given the choice I personally wouldn’t choose to ski anywhere else. If you were to combine Americas six largest resorts they would fit into the Three Valleys. Fortunately for Courchevel the pistes are mainly north facing which means that the snow lasts longer. Courchevel has access to over 600km of marked and interconnecting pistes, served by over 200 ski lifts, which are now hands free and over 560 snow cannons. All abilities are catered for as 50% of the slopes are for beginners and intermediate skiers, 50% are for advanced and expert skiers and for the more adventurous there is more than 10,000 hectares of off-piste skiing available.

Tourist office figures suggest that 25-30% of visitors to Courchevel have no intention to ski or board, therefore Courchevel provides plenty for those people such as snow shoe hiking along forest trails, private art galleries, bowling, hot air ballooning, horse drawn carriage rides, quad biking on snow, skidoos and an international firework competition usually held in February. Of course 1850 is also renowned for its shopping and you will find exclusive boutiques and designer brands.

Both 1550 and Le Praz are both delightful villages, full of character, which are smaller than the bigger resorts of 1850 and 1650 and because of this you will find it more welcoming, friendly and have more of a community feel. Both villages have charming bars for après ski and restaurants that serve amazing Savoyarde food at more reasonable prices than the higher villages. Everything you may need is catered for with a number of ski hire shops, supermarket, tabac selling British newspapers, cash point machine and a few gift shops. Le Praz is also the sight of the 90m and 120m ski jumps which were built for the 1992 Albertville Olympics; keep your eyes peeled if you pass this as they are used for teams practicing. Should you wish to venture to the higher villages the telecabine from 1550 to 1850 runs until 7.30 pm, or alternatively there is a free bus service which runs every thirty minutes until midnight.

Myself and my team look forward to your arrival and are sure that your stay with us will be an enjoyable one. Should you have any questions before you arrive please post them and I will endeavour to answer them for you.

The defender will not fit in the underground car parking that we have. Tere is public parking (free) approx 500m from the chalet (just up the hill), however parking is very limited and this facility is quite popular.

Your information on Le Praz states that the run back to the village is a blue. I stayed there two years ago and it was a fairly steep red or black. Have the piste's been remodelled since then.

Some remodelling of the pistes takes place every year. However no significant remodelling has taken place. The run back into town is red or black (two red pistes) I apologise if our description is incorrect if this is the case we will get it changed straight away.

Hi.

Chalet Veronique is on the middle floor as advertised on our web site. Did you book through an agent?? I'm guessing that you must have as we don't have any male sales associates. Please see the chalet descrition on our web site on the followin link. http://www.skipower.co.uk/Chalets.asp?res=8&cha=21

Regarding transfers. We may be able to assist, however, the cost on our transfers is quite high for just 2 people., so if you can either find somebody to share with, or if you can get a transfer to 1550 we should be able to transfer you from 1550 to the chalets.

Hi. The altibus doesn't normally stop in 1300, but has to pass straight throuh it to tget to 1550. The bus stop in 1300 is directly opposite the chalets. If you ask nicely the driver may well stop, if not we have minibuses' regularly stopping at our hotel Chanrossa in 1550 and so any of those would be able to run you down to Le Praz.

Please do book this as our drivers only pick up scheduled clients (its the law in france).
