Two of us have booked a flight to Geneva arriving early afternoon 12 December 2010. Anybody else care to share a minibus transfer to Val, courtesy of Skipower, which would be £50 per person with four travelling?

Thanks, Craig, that's good. Now we'll see if we can find two others who would like to take that transfer (12th December, Geneva to Val d'Isere). Anybody out there interested?

Hi Marcus.
Yes, the price for a one way minibus transfer would be half the return cost for transfers on the 12 December. Obviously the usual conditions of a minimum of 4 guests applies on the minibus transfers.
Best Regards

Thanks, Craig, I understand your position re the start of the flight programme. Your price of £55 for flight and transfer on the 19th seems very reasonable. If we opted for a minibus transfer on the 12th, and therefore only needed this on the outward journey, can I take it that this would be half the cost of the £99 or £109 you quote for a return minibus transfer?

Hi Marcus
Regrettably our flight programme only starts on the 19 December 2010 and so we will not be able to provide flights for the 12th December. We are, however operating flights on the return part of your journey and so therefore can offer flights and coach transfers on the 19 December for your return from resort. We have priced these very competitively and they are currently (on the 14 August 2010) priced at £55 per person from Val D'Isere or £45 pp from Courchevel. This is flights and transfers and includes airport taxes etc.
For the 12th December, we are very happy to try and organise transfers for guests at the most competitive price we can. Obviously we have season long contracts in place with our coach company and we can therefore organise competitive coach transfers if the demand is there, however, coaches are only really cost effective for 40 plus guests and therefore there would need to be quite a few clients travelling at similar times to make a coach an effective and affordable solution.
This season, we have tried to offer some different solutions to clients for transfers, attempting to keep the costs for everybody as low as possible. the shuttle service is a new concept and we are effectively testing this on courchevel for popularity, again, we are trying to keep the costs down as clients (with groups of 1/2 guests) who have travelled with us before have asked for a cheaper transfer option than the minibus service that has a minimum of 4 guests and therefore becomes very expensive. We are hoping that it proves popular and we can therefore introduce an equivalent service to Val D'Isere in 2011/12. edited by craig@skipower.co.uk on 15/08/2010

Hi Craig
We're thinking of making a booking for the 12th December week but understand that you have no flights or coach transfers on that date, even though the season starts in Val d'Isere the week before. If you find people are making their own flight arrangements for this date, will you consider organising a bulk transfer from Geneva? As there are only two of us we don't qualify for the minibus option, car hire for two is expensive, and there is no shuttle to Val! Alternatively can your office co-ordinate the sharing of a minibus?

VAL D'ISERE - There are five covered car parks all costing approx 20€ per day or 80€ per week, and some are bookable on-line at www.parkingvaldisere.com. Booking is advisable during peak weeks such as Christmas, New Year, February half-term and Easter.
As you drive into Val d’Isere, the car parks are located as follows:
Parking Pierre et Vacances: Covered car-park attached to the Pierre et Vacances hotel opposite the Centre Commercial in La Daille. Parking du Funival: Free open car parks on opposite sides of the road just past the Funival. Parking de la Balme: Covered car park attached to the Les Jardin de la Balme self-catered apartments in the Verdets area of Val d’Isère. (the first available right hand turn before entering Val d’Isere). Car-park can be booked and paid locally. Parking du Centre de Congrès: Covered car park just next to Club des Sports at the bottom of the Solaise slopes in the Verdets area of Val d’Isere. Parking du Centre: Covered car-park pre-bookable online located right in the centre of town 100m from the Solaise area opposite Dicks Tea Bar. Parking Rond Point de Pistes: Covered car park attached to Maeva Le Rond Point des Pistes Residence at the bottom of the Solaise ski area just opposite the Solaise Express. Le Laisinant: On leaving Val d’Isere, there is a free, open car-park on the right hand side at the bottom of the Laisinant Express left. La Fornet: During the winter, the road terminates at Le Fornet and just prior to this, there is a small open car park on the right hand side. Parking here is very limited.
NOTE : If you park illegally in Val d'Isere the Police Municipal (Traffic Police) will be hot on your tail! You will usually get a warning (yellow ticket) first time round, but if you leave your car somewhere you're not meant to, it is very liable to be towed.

HI
You have a lot of specific questions here - I am assuming that you have booked one of our nannies? please can you confirm your booking ref and date of travel, chalet and name ?
I think it will be best to discuss this over the phone rather than on a forum.
Please can you call and ask for Pip Parry on 01737 306029..
Thank you PIp Parry

HI I am not sure the exact time you will need to check with the lift station. There is a regular bus service between Chanrossa and 1850 which is useful!

Hi Deborah
Yes that is correct - Snowberry offer a free 'cloakroom' service - where you can deposit the equipment with them each day and collect the following morning...

We are staying at the Hotel Gellinote week commencing 4th April - 2 adults and 2 children. We have hired through you skis and boots I read that they can be stored in the shop rather than bring them back to the hotel. Is that correct. Looking forward to our stay with you. Deborah

Val D'Isere Lift Passes

Hi. The "charge", which is in fact a discount that you have benefited from, is levied per person who does not book a lift pass through us. We receive a commission of approximately £15 for each person who purchases a lift pass from us, iin reality this subsidises the cost of holidays. . We decided that it was unfair to expect those that purchase a lift pass through us to susidise those clients who decide to purchase their lift pass from other sources. As a result we are being totally transparent to everybody. We include the £15 discount (subsidy) in the holiday price as we and all of our competitors have historically done. However we are now leaving the choice to you. Purchase your lift pass through us and the subsidy will continue to apply to your holiday. If you purchase the lift pass throuh other suppliers then we are not receiving the siubsidy and so the subsidy no longer applies to your holiday.
I hope that you can see that we are trying to be open and transparent to all of our clients and offer true value for money.

Hi! Do we need to bring our own ipod chargers and adapters or is there a facility in the chalet (Topaz in this instance) for charging them?
Thanks in advance! Clare

Hi Craig,
Just spotted the £15 extra charge for not buying lift passes via you and have a couple of questions.
We are a party of 14, arriving 10/04/10 - 9 of us including 1 non-skier will be arriving in time to ski on Saturday and will need the 7 day family ski passes that appear to be unavailable via your site. The last 5 will be arriving later on the Saturday, including 1 non-skier and the other 4 will again need a family lift pass. How is this extra charge going to apply to us?
Carol.

Hi Pip/Henry,
We are coming for w/c 10th April and to make the most of the week will be arriving early on Saturday and aiming to ski all day. Two of the party will need ski hire - Could we arrange 7 days hire starting on Saturday through you or just turn up at the shop and tell them where we're staying on the day? I'm the only non-skier and hope it will be okay to curl up with a book in your lounge for the day!
ciao,
Carol.
