Often known as the ‘chic' resort of the Trois Vallées, Courchevel is an outstanding ski resort comprising four different villages. Courchevel 1550 is conveniently located a short gondola ride from 1850 and offers very quick and easy access to the Courchevel valley, with beautiful tree lined and snow cannoned runs back into resort.
Courchevel has some of the best groomed pistes in Europe and forms part of the vast Trois Vallées ski area (600km). The lift system is excellent, enabling beginners to find wide and easy slopes, intermediates to ski and board the length and breadth of the Trois Vallées on exciting reds or leisurely blues, and experts to find truly challenging blacks and huge areas of off-piste. The facilities for free-stylers are excellent across the whole Trois Valleés ski area.
A new high speed 6 person chairlift was constructed in the summer of 2004, it replaced the old Dou du Midi 2 person chairlift, and now offers a very quick connection to the centre of 1850. Some of the slopes back to the village were altered in 2006 to make them easier, and it is now much more straightforward to ski to this lift and therefore back to our 1550 chalets. There is also a 4 person Bubble from the centre of 1550 right into the heart of Courchevel 1850, it runs from 9 am until 7.30 pm daily.
There are a number of friendly bars (including our own in Chanrossa) and several restaurants, but nightlife is quieter in comparison to its higher neighbour.
Extra activities include ice-skating, bowling, tobogganing, ice climbing, hang-gliding, climbing, cinema and skidooing. |
